This isn't even competitive anymore. going into this season, the NFC had won the last 3 super bowls. we could have just written it off as a coincidence. However, with the NFC West's resurgence as a power division and the continued strength of the other 3 NFC divisions, this is not even close any more. If San Diego loses tonight, there will only be 2 teams in the entire AFC with winning records. The NFC has won 19 of the 28 non-con match-ups this season, almost a 70% clip. But that doesn't even tell the whole story, because only 1 of the 9 AFC wins has been by more than 3 points and most of the NFC wins have been total butt beatings. There was a long period of time that you old-timers will remember back in the 80's and 90's when the NFC was completely dominant over the AFC and rattled off quite a few SB's in a row. It's a long season and an AFC team may become dominant by the end of the year and save the AFC's ass, but the way it's looking, I think we may be in the midst of another time where the AFC is the NFC's snitch for many years.
NFC: Giants, Bears, Falcons, 49ers, Vikings, Cardinals, Seahawks (over .500) AFC: Texans, Ravens (over .500) Yeah, the AFC seems mired in mediocrity these days. The entire AFC East is 3-3 while the AFC West has a tie between two 3-3 teams in the Broncos and Chargers (Broncos of course just came back from 24-0 to down the Chargers). At some point some other teams will start to break from the back but in all reality, there are too many matchups where I'd say the NFC rep would beat the AFC rep easily. It's like the 90's when the Bills feasted on a weak AFC. Sure they made 4 Super Bowls, but who was really even close to their league in the AFC back then?
