The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did receive a substantial fine for inappropriate contact with players during the NFL lockout, according to sources with knowledge of the situation on Friday, given the fact coach Raheem Morris admitted to as much during a radio interview and following an investigation by the league. Contrary to internet reports, the Tennessee Titans were not fined for a similar offense. Profootballtalk.com reported Friday that the Buccaneers, Titans and one other team were each fined $100,000 or more for violating lockout rules but a league sources said there were several inaccuracies with that report. The NFL investigated seven instances of impermissible contact between Buccaneers players and coaches, according to a team source on Sept. 11, but three of the calls were less than a minute long and could have been hangups or never completed. One call was between Morris and tight end Kellen Winslow to wish him well on the birth of a child. And the longest conversation was between Morris and a player who didn’t make the team. Go heck yourselves you self absorbed POS'. A freaking mazing. Some team had to be the poster child. Coach Rah, send them the fine in truck loads of pennies. Screw them.
Un-freaking-believable, it's like Goodell is competing with David Stern for the "Biggest Douche Bag" award of commissioners.
Every team did it. I'd be more surprised if there was a team that didn't. Why Morris would go public and say that is beyond me...rather dumb.
So putting it in real world terms then, what the league is saying is that the boss can't call a member of staff and wish them well and congratulate them on becoming a father. Load of bollocks!!
