NFL Free Agent Cedric Benson Says, 'I'll Take What I Can Get'

Cedric Benson may be the best available NFL free agent still on the market, it's a title he could clearly do without. The unemployed tailback got emotional Tuesday while discussing his NFL prospects on SiriusXM Radio. "I'm always gonna stay true to myself. I'm always gonna stay true to the kid that was growing up in West Texas and dreamed of playing in the NFL," said Benson, who had to compose himself after getting choked up. "Because that kid is the kid that had the dream that got me where I'm at today." The No. 4 overall pick of the 2005 draft, Benson was essentially a bust with the Chicago Bears, but he resurrected his career with the Cincinnati Bengals and led them in rushing all four seasons he was with the team beginning in 2008. But even though he topped 1,000 yards the past three years, the Bengals chose to sign BenJarvus Green-Ellis in free agency instead. Benson, 29, has gotten feelers from the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and Oakland Raiders, but at this point, he seems to be looking for anything beyond the veteran minimum ... even if he seems resigned to eventually settling for it. "There's going to come a point where I'm gonna take what I get," he said. "I'm gonna make the best of it regardless. I owe it to the Man upstairs who's blessed me with these talents."

I'd give him like 500 a month and a room to hang out with me at work. Could be fun.
