Matt Slauson could be hearing from the NFL this week. If so, it will likely mean a big dent in the wallet for the New York Jets guard. Merton Hanks, the league's vice president for football operations, is reviewing Slauson's apparent clip of Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing from Monday night's game, the NFL confirmed to USA TODAY Sports. Cushing suffered a season-ending torn left ACL from the hit. Slauson faces a possible fine and has drawn a wave of criticism, accused of injuring an opponent with a cheap shot. Source: USA Today
yeah and it shouldn't be but this was no average cut block. I think it should have been called as a penalty.
It's not clipping when you hit him in the front and it isn't a chop block unless he is engaged with another defender. Cushing had the ability to see him but it looked like he got tunnel vision.
Clauson dove right at the back of his knee. [ame=http://www.nfl.com/videos/houston-texans/0ap2000000078705/Brian-Cushing-injury]Brian Cushing injury - NFL Videos[/ame]
I wish that crap would be illegal, all the safety is for the offense, nothing for the defense except the blindside Hines Ward rule.
