Statement by NFL EVP of Human Resources Robert Gulliver on hiring of head coaches and general managers:

"While there has been full compliance with the interview requirements of the Rooney Rule and we wish the new head coaches and general managers much success, the hiring results this year have been unexpected and reflect a disappointing lack of diversity. The Rooney Rule has been a valuable tool in expanding diversity and inclusion in hiring practices, but there is more work to do, especially around increasing and strengthening the pipeline of diverse candidates for head coach and senior football executive positions. We have already started the process of developing a plan for additional steps that will better ensure more diversity and inclusion on a regular basis in our hiring results. We look forward to discussing these steps with our advisers to ensure that our employment, development and equal opportunity programs are both robust and successful."

Why not just freaking force teams to hire black guys? Fine them for every white guy they hire.

Jesus Christ this is freaking stupid. It actually pisses me off.

Maybe give the "diverse" the "answers" to the interview questions? The commissioner isn't diverse...what's up with that? Looks quite "aryan" to me...

And let me just be clear, I am not being racist. I am all for minorities having equal opportunities. But forcing teams to give them token interviews then getting pissed when they aren't hired is just stupid. You can't force them to be the most qualified for every job. The most qualified guy gets the job. NFL owners have too much at stake to hire a black guy just to improve diversity.

Rule is stupid and so is this reaction to this year's moves. This does more harm than good.

Black guys get drafted more than white guys maybe we should force every team to draft more white players because there are more black guys than white guys.

The Rooney rule should be abolished. Just like "Affirmative Action" should be abolished. I'm not racist, I'm all for equality. But stuff like the Rooney Rule and Affirmative Action don't create equality. Companies get sued, if they don't hire minority candidates.

I believe that minorities should get every chance they can, but the most qualified candidate should get the job. This might be controversial, but BEING BLACK OR MEXICAN IS NOT A QUALIFICATION FOR A JOB!
