The National Football League has informed clubs that players will be allowed to wear special shoes and gloves designed by NFL licensees for Week 1 games. Reebok, an NFL licensee, had distributed gloves and cleats to players that commemorated the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Players tweeted pictures of the gear, vowing to wear them even though they hadn't been approved for use by the league office. Violations of the league's uniform policy can result in fines of over $5,000. Officially, the league never had a comment on whether or not the apparel would result in a fine and today's confirmation that the cleats and gloves are approved means that any player that received a shipment from Reebok (not all players have sponsorship deals with the apparel company, which will give way to Nike in 2012) are free to wear them. Why would the NFL let them do this? They can't make money with it...lol. Glad to see the NFL let players do this...
Doh....I bet someone is reading this news somewhere and getting very pissed off that they should have waited a day to post...hahahahahahaha. I'm glad the NFL decided to just let this go and not make an issue of it.
OH heck the NFL they only did this move to avoid scrutiny. It was the right thing but the didn't do it for the right reasons.
I choose to forget September 11th. Want to know why? It's because I believe that, everytime we "remember" Sept. 11th, we let the terrorists win. They wanted to effect our everyday life. Seems like they've succeeded. If those thoughts make me "un-American", then so be it. I'm really more of a neo-Confederate, anyway
It's not about remembering 9/11. It's about not forgetting the innocent people that were killed. The firefighters, policemen, and just random people who gave their lives to help save anyone and everyone they could. Forgetting them and ignoring their sacrifice is a terrible thing to do.
I choose to remember Carol Bouchard who was a passenger on Flight 11. Not to sound like a rod but saying remembering the worst attack on American soil EVER is letting the terrorists win is ignorant. We lost a lot of people ON that day and we've lost a lot since. Remember the folks who lost their lives on that day, not the terrorists. And onto the topic, i'm glad the NFL did this. If they hadn't there would have been some SEVERE backlash from a lot of people, including high ranking ones.
