Champ Baily is number one Nnamdi Asuomahgu (I know that is a homer selection but i won't be surprised to see him on other lists as well.) Ronde Barber asante samuel. he might just be a system star that will be shown this year. DeAngelo Hall
hall gets beat soooooo much and is owned by top receivers, he is NOWHERE near the top 5 If we are going best corner: Champ Bailey Rashean Mathis - I can't believe not one mention of him yet Antonio Cromartie Marcus Trufant Asante Samuel Also Dunta Robinson - if he wasn't hurt, he would be higher right behind champ, IMO Nmadi Asomugha Antoine Winfield Nate Clements Terrance Newman Ashton Youboty - gonna be a great one
In no particular order I would have; DeAngelo Hall, Nate Clements, Asante Samuel, Rashean Mathis and Nmadi Asamougha as my top 5 CBs in the NFL. As you can see, I haven't included Marcus Trufant as my personal opinion is not high of him, and I believe that Champ Bailey is now in the decline of a good career. Cromartie might have gotten a mention in there but I named my first five, maybe if he proves it wasn't just one good year this coming season he'll be on my list.
How the heck is Cromartie near the top 5 after 1 year? Yeah he had a good year and made some big plays but I saw him get beat a fair bit and hes pretty weak in run support. Hes not yclose to being top 5 yet.
I have him in my Top 5 frankly because of last year and none of the other guys impress me enough to be Top 5 talent. I think Samuel is a bit overrated as I do with D'Angelo Hall. I think Rashean Mathis is underrated, I also think Ike Taylor is underrated (however, I didn't put him in the Top 5 b/c I don't think he is Top 5.) True that it's only one year...
Thank you!!!! mike for saying rashean mathis. its unbelivable nobody even mentioned him before u, Also i dont like hall as top five. i kind of want to see how cromartie follows up this year but overall good lists guys.
Meh, that's only because you posted before me. He was definitely going on my list anyway. :icon_wink:
Seriously.... IMO a "top 5 cb" has to be somebody you don't mess with and when you do he makes you pay for it. He also needs to face the leagues best wr's and show how he adds up over the course of a couple years. Being stout in run support is a must for me as well. 1. C. Bailey 2. A. Winfield 3 R. Mathis 4. N. Asomugha ( simple fact, nobody tests him and wont throw at him) 5. Trufaunt/ Newman it's a toss up with theses two.
D'oh! Totally forgot about Mathis, replace Cromartie with him on my list. This is a tough one to rate, because it depends very much on what you are rating them on. The CB position is very dynamic and requires alot of different skill sets, so its really hard to determine whether someone who is just a flat out baller (Mathis) is better than a game-changing big play maker (Cromartie). Either way D. Hall shouldn't be on anyones list...
