The NFL Players Association has filed two grievances on behalf of Aaron Hernandez against his former team, the New England Patriots, for pay withheld, NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Wednesday. Hernandez is being held without bail in a Bristol County, Mbutt. jail while he awaits trial on a first-degree murder charge, as well as multiple weapons violations. Did he get to keep 10 MILLION DOLLARS because the Pats cut him immediately after charges were brought, instead of doing the formal process? Does the NFLPA think this somehow makes them look good?
While I agree with you I see a problem with the NFLPA doing this for Hernandez. To me it says you can kill someone and we will still get you money.
To be safe legally speaking, the NFLPA probably has to support him...no? If not, if they "abandon him" can't he then in turn come after them for not supporting their players?
No a union doesn't have to support in certain circumstances. If I'm a construction worker and I have a contract, I kill someone, the person I have a contract with terminates that contract, will my union fight for me? I wouldn't. When someone does something so extreme and detrimental for a business that you work for, would you want you union to fight for him saying "hey it's ok if you make us all look bad, we will get you your money!"?
But what if that construction contract was completed before the incident? And to answer your question, no...I wouldn't support Hernandez at all. But in Wondering if they're going through the "motions" to avoid legal action from Hernandez...
Well Hernandez wasn't through with his contract and I'm sure there was a clause for conduct detrimental to the team.
What about the workout bonus? If that was completed and he was owed that money (not that I think he should get it) but shouldn't the union fight on his behalf for that part? Considering he was in the union at that time?
