Norv Turner has agreed to be the Vikings' new offensive coordinator, according to a league source. Turner will leave the Browns, where he served as offensive coordinator for one season, and join Mike Zimmer's staff in Minnesota. Much of Zimmer's success will be predicated on finding and developing a quarterback, which is Turner's forte. Turner became available after the Browns surprisingly fired head coach Rob Chudzinski after just one year on the job. Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton has departed as well, taking over that same position with the Titans. Source: CBSSports.com
I could actually see Norv making Ponder useful. He maxe Alex Smith less terrible at a time in his career when he was much, much worse than Ponder is now. The dude just made a carousel of whale crap at quarterback not be entirely terrible in Cleveland. Which, by all rights, it should have been. Im not expecting that with Ponder, but its not out of the realm of possibility.
Agree. Turner actually has something to work with in Peterson, Ponder and their O-Line. The Vikes should pose more of a threat in the NFC North than the perennial .500 Lions.
