Former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen tried to show NFL teams Friday he is worth a first-round draft pick, though he’s still not 100 percent healthy three months after surgery to repair torn tendons in his right foot. Clausen didn’t run during the 30-minute throwing session attended by 16 of the 32 NFL teams. He completed 57 of 59 passes, overthrowing wide receiver Robby Parris on two long route, although his receivers also needed to make some nice catches on several other throws, with former Notre Dame running back James Aldridge twisting back to catch a short pass on his shoulder and former Irish receiver David Grimes speeding up to make a fingertip grab on a 50-yard pbutt.

(IMO) Jimmy Clausen is HiGH RiSK/HiGH REWARD type of Player. There's no doubt about it, he has Potential to be something special - but at the same time - He could BUST IT UP like JaWalrus Russell.(I take that back... Nobody can ever come close to JaWalrus)

I wouldn't be upset with Clausen at 8, but i'm sticking with Tebow.

Supposedly dude was money. He looked good in the few throws they showed on NFL Network.

*Overthrows are better than underthrows on deep routes - Robby Parris is also REALLY slow
**NFL receivers can catch like that. What if he was throwing away from a covering defender?
***Can any other (round one) QB in this draft throw it 50 yards?

ESPN are so stupidly bias in regards to everything, I never take any of their "analysis" seriously any more.

I just watched the workout. He was freaking AWESOME.

Unlike ESPN/Sam Bradford fans, I watched his head fakes, footwork and body control on pro-style play action fakes (where he turns his back to the defense, then turns and locates his reads).

He looked best on the deep out-breaking routes (deep out/corner/fade) and his two incompletions were both to Robbie Parris who fell over on the second one.

His deep balls to Golden Tate were right on the money, shows hard work between them developing chemistry. He worked with Tate, Floyd and Rudolph over the summer, and he will do the same in the NFL with whoever he is paired with (TJ Houshmenzadeh, John Carlson and Deon Butler? :icon_cheesygrin:)

He doesn't have epic arm strength like Elway/Favre/Cutler/Stafford, but it is easily strong enough to make all the throws in ANY NFL passing attack (unlike Sam Bradford).

He displayed great accuracy on most of his throws, but what really made me take notice was his quick release and timing. He often released the ball just as the receiver was coming out of his break and compensated for the slowing-down and acceleration into and out of the cuts, often hitting guys in stride.

His first look was always down field, not to his running backs, even on designed dump-off plays.

Looks like an NFL QB to me.
