For the second time in three years, Matt Slauson was entered into a competition for the starting left guard job against Vlad Ducasse. And for the second time, Slauson appears to have won the job, Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger reports. "I think right now, we'll go with Matt," coach Rex Ryan said. "He's got the experience, but he has looked really good to me." Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said he is behind Ryan's statement, though he was a bit less conclusive. "Matt is probably ahead of Vlad at this point, but we've got a long way to go," Sparano said. "So we’ll see how it shakes out." "Competition is great, and I think Vlad will play a lot for us," Ryan said. "But right now, I would definitely give the edge to Matt."
