while i still do not think he's this all-pro wideout like a certain ER doctor proclaimed i do admit the guy is excellent at what he does. now the guy does benefit immensely from having guys like jackson, celek & maclin on the field giving him single coverage by a safety or LB but he does what he's supposed to do as a slot reciever and after seeing that touchdown yesterday i have to give this guy his props. he is one several weapons mcnabb has and if the opposing defense does not cover him efficiently he will burn them.
hes a free agent coming up to i hope we resign him he makes some big catches for us even without the huge stats. Hes never gonna be a stat guy. I really like that hes humble to he likes his role. During an interview they asked what he thought about players saying he has the best hands on the team and he said that desean or maclin have the best hands.
Yea, but I have a feeling someone will overpay him like the Eagles did with Curtis, and then try to make him into a #2 or even a #1 receiver, which Avant is not.
yeah but in curtis' defense, injuries are a big part of why he was not as productive for us as he could've been.
ok, since we're being honest with one another, i need to own up to something too ................. this may be difficult for some of you to accept .............. but .............. "i'm never wrong about anyone or anything football-related" ............... no, seriously, smeagle is a stand up guy so of course he would own up to something he felt he was wrong about. well done, as usual, smeagle. HH could probably learn a thing or 2 from you. He is still claiming his chiefs are better than the raiders. :icon_cheesygrin:
Oh I agree smeags. But Avant more than likely in the same predicament as Curtis, all the pressure and if he doesn't produce top tier WR numbers he will be labeled a FA bust.
yep, we'll see though. i don't want to jump ahead too far. for now i am happy with what he is doing for the eagles this year. i can see him playing big this week against the cowboys. they are going to try and stop westbrook, jackson, maclin & celeck which will again open things up for him bigtime.
That TD catch he had yesterday was yet another example of how good Avant's hands are. He's such a good 3rd down weapon.
Glad to hear you finally started watching the games you have been posting so much about :icon_cheesygrin:. He is a monster in the middle of the field. He catches crap that 90 percent of receivers in the league would drop, It almost seems like Donnie doesn't have the arm to throw a bullet too hard for him and that's saying something. He is a 3rd down machine. I wish they would use him more. They leaned on his 3rd down skills alot during the stretch last year. This year with Maclin and Jackson and Celek having big years his abilities haven't been showcased as much.
obviously you were right because of his pro-bowl selection this year and we all know that means everything. :icon_cool: seriously though, i said he was an average wideout who wasn't good enough to be more than a 3rd down wideout. i am admitting i am wrong because he's actually having the best year of his career and has started only one game so in reality his abilities have been showcased more this year than any other. granted he is benefitting bigtime from those guys being on the field but the point is he is getting open and is catching what is thrown his way, some passes of which aren't exactly hitting him in the numbers.
