Packers Could Trade QB Matt Flynn Away So He Can Compete To Start?

Dan Pompei of the National Football Post writes that no one should be surprised if Matt Flynn follows the path of Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Brooks, Mark Brunell and Kurt Warner and leaves Green Bay to become a starting quarterback elsewhere. Teams in need of a quarterback are taking a good look at Flynn, who performed exceptionally well against the Patriots in New England in December. The Packers believe the fourth-year QB is ready to start, but of course he’s not going to start in Green Bay. Flynn, who was a seventh round pick, has developed consistently under Mike McCarthy and Tom Clements. The Packers might be able to get a second round pick in a trade for Flynn.

As a fan of a QB needy team this got my attention. Sadly don't know anything about him really,..... Anyone?

West coast qb as well. He'd be pretty high on the wco teams lists...

like mentioned above... national champion at lsu. and in one start in the nfl played well enough to put the team in positioin to win. ( he also threw a pick 6 i think, give and take for a guy that hasnt been on the feild alot ) a second round pick in next years draft would be key, but then packers would have to sign a vet qb and draft a rookie qb in the later rounds.

imo, forget kevin kolb, if a team wants to take a gamble on a back up..... flynn is inn

I can see, that Flynn wants to compete for a starter job, but it would be a downgrade at the QB backupposition

The thing is he's pretty comfortable with the system he's in. Has good talent all around him. He had one start against a team that new nothing of when he could do in the NFL. Troy Smith shocked some teams last year too when he was given the chance to start. Then after a few games he was figured out.

Sure, you never know what you'll get out of him, but as long we have Rodgers, I doubt he'll have much chances to show up for more than a handoff QB late in the 4th Q

Ya the thing that makes him valuable is he appears to be able to run the wco comfortably.

True, but at the same time you just have one game to really base it off of.

    Basicly, it's a gamble...

I wouldn't call Flynn valuable based on one outing. I seem to remember a guy named Rob Johnson that was "valuable" after one start as well...
