On Wednesday, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said that linebacker Frank Zombo would sit the rest of this week and return after the bye due to a hyperextended knee. The injury occurred 20 minutes into his first regular-season action following a broken scapula suffered in the preseason. "Frank had an unfortunate setback," McCarthy said. "I would think he'd be ready after the bye week. I don't think this is going to be anything long. But he will not make it for this week." Zombo spent six weeks rehabbing a knee injury late last season, losing his starting job to Erik Walden, only to get the start in his first game back, Super Bowl XLV, after Walden got hurt in the NFC Championship Game. This time around, Zombo got a chance to work in at right outside linebacker, a position he lost to Walden in training camp, and was off to a decent start before teammate Clay Matthews ran into his leg in the second quarter. "Frank did a nice job in the game," McCarthy said. "Outside linebacker is a position you cannot have enough of. Especially the way we use them in both base and sub and their contribution on special teams. It was great to have the rotation the way the reps were sorted between Erik and Frank."
