Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers showed how dangerous they can be when they're at full strength Saturday night, overwhelming the Minnesota Vikings 24-10 in an NFC wild-card game that was never really close. John Kuhn scored two touchdowns, DuJuan Harris added another and Rodgers connected with an NFL playoff-record 10 receivers as he threw for 274 yards. Defensively, the Packers (12-5) finally managed to contain Adrian Peterson and were all over Vikings backup Joe Webb, pressed into service because of Christian Ponder's elbow injury. Peterson was held to 99 yards — an improvement after gaining 199 and 210 in the first two games. Webb, who hadn't thrown a pass all season, was sacked three times and off target all night. just a total and complete beatdown by the packers.big chickencrap move by ponder to not even attempt to play at all in the game considering he'd have all off season to heal.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.....chicken crap? Hold on a second, he couldn't throw. How is try to play through an injury that doesn't let you throw being a chicken crap? Word after the game from reporters in the locker room was he could hardly get dressed. Call him many things but chicken crap shouldn't be one of them.
He went out to warm up before the game and was lobbing 15 yard passes. And that was as far as he could throw. 15 yards.
We'll see if we spot him shopping with his girlfriend in the next few days and is trying on clothes. I'd hardly call it a chickencrap move, yeah I understand playoffs man who cares tough it out. From the sounds of it they couldn't even numb it up enough for him to throw which is what all bigggg time players that their team needs usually does in that situation. Remember Favre getting cortisol shots alll season except for the one in his shoulder because it was too close to his neck. Chickencrap don't think so.
If Ponder went out there and tried to play the score would have been a lot worse. The Vikings were screwed regardless: either your starter plays and can't connect on any throws, or you play your backup who has only started 2 games and will make his first start of the year on the raod in a playoff game. Have to give it to Leslie Frazier and this defense, they did the best they could under the given circumstance.
It all boils down to the fact that nobody will ever win in the playoffs with a UAB player in their starting lineup.
i'm tempering what i saw from the packers on saturday. what i think i saw was 2 teams bascially do the same thing a lot of did after we saw Webb throw a few passes ......... both the vikes and the packers realized the vikings did not stand a chance.... the vikes stopped giving as much effort and the packers relaxed and just started doing what they do. i'm not sure how we can draw much from this game to know really what the packers look like.
