There seems to be conflicting reports on if Aaron Rodgers is going to play this week or if he's going to be able to play at all this year. NFL Network reported he would be 'lucky' to play against the Falcons. Now we get this:

So what is it? Is he coming back or is he done for the year? And does it even make a difference for the Packers? They are 5-6-1 and somehow are still in the race for the NFC North. But the Packers are in a position where it's the division title or bust. I don't know if Rodgers at 75 or 80% is going to be able to make a difference. Would it be prudent to just shut him down for the year and protect the long-term future of the team? Or has parity made it so rushing him back is worth it?

I hope he comes back to beat the Cowboys.

Has there ever been the perfect example of a 'bounty' game if he came back?

Without Rodgers, the Pack are cannon fodder. With him, a football stadium is the most dangerous place for his recovery.

I'm agreeing with every damn thing you're saying today. Need a Cowboys loss in a big way.

You're on the ball with these, lol.

That being said, all biases aside (with him being my QB in fantasy league and Dallas having to play him potentially both being biases), the Packers would be wise to mail it in. Just makes more sense for the future of the franchise IMHO.

If Rodgers demands to play, who is going to tell him no? Reportedly, Rodgers said the other day that he would be good to go by Sunday.
The Lions still arent a lock to win the division because of how inconsistent they are and the Packers have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way, so they could win out with Rodgers. I feel like if Rodgers thinks that he is good to go, wants to play and understands the risks; let the man play.

Players often need to be protected from themselves (see RG3 at the end of last year). If he isn't fully healed, he really doesn't need to play, even if he feels like he can.

Probably not worth risking him to further and possibly worse injury at this point. I wouldn't blame them if they shut him down for the year

I wouldn't be heartbroken IF Rodgers was shut down for the year.

Seriously though...The Packers have fallen apart since he fractured his collarbone against the Bears in Week 9. That team goes as he goes and they've hit rock bottom since his injury. IF Rodgers is 100% healthy, I think he can still make a difference for the Packers if he plays again this year.
