When asked during his weekly "The Aaron Rodgers Show" on 540 ESPN Radio whether he targeted a Thanksgiving matchup with the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions for his return, the Green Bay Packers quarterback said he wants to get on the field even sooner. "I haven't given up hope on playing any week," Rodgers said, per ESPNMilwaukee.com. "It depends on how I heal and depends on what the next X-ray looks like. Obviously, this week is probably not going to happen -- not going to happen. (pause) Probably not going to happen." Rodgers said he's taking baby steps toward returning. He pointed to being able to sleep through the night, pull on a shirt and put on his socks without being in an "extreme amount of pain" as positive signs his fractured collarbone is healing well. Source: NFL.com markaz's Take: Little doubt that the Packers season is over without Rodgers. However rushing back for this season is borderline nuts with a broken collar bone. Big difference between sleeping through the night, putting on your socks or pulling on a shirt pain-free vs. Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley hammering you and your clavicle.
Rodgers shouldn't rush this, especially IF Tolzien plays well and helps lead the Packers to a win or two.
well, that would only be a 3 week recovery time when we were told 4-6. maybe he should be shooting for that next game, 12/8.
Rodgers did say at the start that he feels like he's always been a fast healer and hoped it would be the shorter end of the window, so we'll see. I look at it kind of as, what does he have to lose? If he waits 5 or 6 weeks comes back and the Packers are too far back to make the playoffs even if they win out; whats the difference if he does that or if he comes back early, gets hurt and has to have off-season surgery on his collarbone? Obviously no one wants to see the guy get hurt but if he says he wants to play, no one is going to tell him that he cant.
Be silly to risk re-injuring this. We'll see if McCarthy has more brains than Trestman did with letting Cutler come back to soon.
