The Panthers coach acknowledged in July that his future in Carolina is the "white elephant in the room," but his young team was anything but a circus on Sunday.

After rolling the New York Giants 38-0, a source told Tom Sorensen of The Charlotte Observer that Rivera would have kept his job even if the Panthers (1-2) had lost the game. According to the source, no change will be made during the season.

It's far from a stamp of approval, but it's a sign that Rivera will be given a chance to further reveal his blueprint for a team that's gone 13-21 during his tenure, Rivera's presumed specialty is defense, and we're starting to see why. The Panthers have developed a nasty front seven that badgered Eli Manning with a whopping seven sacks on Sunday.

He should have gotten a second receiver, oh well. Sucks to be him.

Their defense is sick and will keep them in almost every game.
