The Carolina Panthers worked to find a home for Jeff Otah but his troubled left knee prevented him from passing a physical with the New York Jets. Since the trade for a conditional seventh-round pick was rescinded and Otah returned to Carolina, the Panthers have made the decision to release the former first-round draft pick. Otah was a fine right tackle when he was healthy but the Panthers just could not count on him as he missed 31 of the last 35 regular-season games. Obviously, the knee remains a major hurdle for him to find work. The Chicago Bears had talked with the Panthers about a trade before the deal with the Jets was made. Source: National Football Post
This guy almost needs a year off just to be able to compete for a spot somewhere. Add to that his age and injury history and who would want to bother signing him?
Very talented guy. Needs to get healthy. If someone can figure out how they have a gem on their hands.
He hasn't been able to put it together up to now, what makes you think he can be repaired and come back better than before? Because better is a long climb from where he was. I don't know if he's willing to push himself to getting to where he needs to be to succeed in the NFL.
If he was on par with what he was when he first came into the league it would be good. I'm not sure he can though. Like you said he has to want it.
He just hasn't shown that hunger to be better to this point. Also, how do you come in so grossly out of shape to camp? No self-discipline.
