Panthers Re-Sign RB DeAngelo Williams To A Five-Year, $43M Deal

The Carolina Panthers and running back DeAngelo Williams have reached agreement on a five-year, $43 million deal that includes $21 million in guaranteed money, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter Wednesday. Only a day ago, the Panthers reached agreement with defensive end Charles Johnson on a six-year, $72 million deal that includes $30 million in guaranteed. The Panthers, because of the agreed-to stipulations of the labor settlement, do not have to give a record deal to No. 1 overall pick Cam NewtonDrafted 27th overall in the 2006 draft, the 28-year-old Williams holds the Panthers' franchise mark for career rushing yards (4,211) and rushing touchdowns (31). In 2008, he led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns and 20 total scores.
