The Carolina Panthers have begun contract negotiations with their top 2009 draft selection, Everette Brown. Carolina traded their 2010 first-round pick in order to get an extra second-round pick so they could select the defensive end. "I've done other deals before with (general manager) Marty (Hurney) and (director of team administration) Rob (Rogers), so I expect to get things done on time," Brown's agent, Joe Linta, told Scout.com late Friday afternoon. Linta declined to discuss if any progress was made during in-person meeting with the team, but seemed confident that a deal would get done fairly quickly, well in advance of when the players report for training camp on August 2.
