The Patriots top defensive playmaker appears to have survived a scare. Rookie cornerback Devin McCourty, who exited the 36-7 win against the Bears early with a rib issue, has not suffered a major injury, the Herald learned. While it’s possible McCourty sits out Sunday’s game against the Packers, his ailment does not appear serious. The former Rutgers star, who has a team-leading six interceptions, had an MRI yesterday. He appeared to fall awkwardly after stripping Bears receiver Johnny Knox of the ball to lead to a Gary Guyton touchdown with 9:56 to go in the half. Source: Boston Herald
