The New England Patriots have released third-year cornerback Ras-I Dowling. The team confirmed the move Wednesday evening. Dowling, who a second-round pick in 2011 (33rd overall) out of Virginia, had an injury-filled two-year stint with the Patriots. Dowling played two games with New England in his rookie season before going on injured reserve with a hip injury. He played in seven games last season before a torn thigh muscle ended his year.
