Tight end Kellen Winslow asked to be released by the New England Patriots and the team obliged Thursday, Mike Reiss and Adam Schefter of ESPN report citing according to a source. Winslow signed a one-year contract with the Patriots on Sept. 19, the transaction coming after Aaron Hernandez sprained his ankle in a 20-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 16.
