The New England Patriots are unlikely to deal guard Logan Mankins before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, according to a league source. The Patriots are seeking a first-round pick or a high second-round pick for the two-time Pro Bowl selection, according to the source. Mankins has refused to sign his contract tender and no team has met that threshold to this point. Mankins is also seeking a deal worth about $8 million per season -- which would put him in line with the top interior linemen in the game and if he is not traded, Mankins will have to report by Nov. 16 to ensure he gets an accrued season and will not be a restricted free agent again. According to league sources, Mankins plans to sign his tender by then if he is not dealt. Source: NFL.com
So you'll end up signing the tender anyway. Now what did that accomplish? Wouldn't it have been easier to have just signed it before the season started?
Logan Mankins The patriots said he had to apoligize for comments about team owner, then once he apoligized they said he had to do it in front of the media, that is why he didn't sign.
