The New England Patriots placed offensive guard Steve Neal on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season. Neal has contemplated retirement previously. Neal has been with New England since 2001. He was originally signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2001 out of Cal State-Bakersfield, where he was a championship wrestler.
