Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star tweets that the New England Patriots have signed RB Joseph Addai. The Patriots recently brought in a number of veteran running backs including Addai, Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower. Addai joins a backfield that consists of Danny Woodhead, Steven Ridley and Shane Vereen, so it will be interesting to see what role ends up playing next season. In the last few years, Addai has been used as a third-down back, the in passing game, but he comes with plenty of mileage and some injury concerns. Source: NFL Trade Rumors
Belichick probably can find a way to make useful. Sometimes a known quality is better than an unknown.
I could definitely see him filling the Kevin Faulk role. He's an experienced pass-blocker and receiver out of the backfield.
Addai isn't replacing the law firm. I'm thinking he'll be 3rd on the depth chart. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket
I could see him coming in and being a 3rd down back, I just don't see Woodhead as the permanent replacement for Faulk.
