Patriots To Use The Spread Offense Less In 2010?

Could the Patriots use less of their vaunted spread offense this season? There was evidence of more three- and four-WR formations down the stretch last season and fewer of the five-wides that the team used to near perfection in 2007 and often beyond that. With the team drafting TEs Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez and possessing a fairly strong run game, don't be shocked to see fewer formations with five wideouts on the field, especially with Wes Welker coming off a serious knee injury.

Anyone else feel that the absense of Wes Welker is greatly overhyped? Unless my memory decieves me, Justin Edelman was equally productive when filling in for Wes.

It's Julien and he is ok, but not the same player as Welker.

Edelman wasn't even close to the player Welker is. I think Edelman played 10 games and caught 40 balls or something close to that. If Welker plays 10 games, he's catching in the neighborhood of 80 balls.

It isn't really close to the same production...
