The large banner of Peyton Manning has been removed from Lucas Oil Stadium. The move Wednesday comes one day before the Colts will take Andrew Luck, Manning's replacement, with the No. 1 overall choice in the NFL draft. Pete Ward, the team's chief operating officer, said the timing had nothing to do with the draft, instead, he said, it was because a crane was in the area and available to take it down. The banner had hung outside the stadium since its opening in 2008. After Manning was released March 7, the team added the words "Thank you Peyton" to the banner.

Manning has done a lot for the city of Indianapolis, the Colts, and the QB position. The thank you banner was added after he was released. It was very nice to have that still on the stadium. Kinda helped ease the pain of loosing such an iconic player.
Indianapolis would not have the new stadium, the super bowl, or even the team if not for this extraordinary player.
With Luck being the pick in the draft tonight, I think the timing was perfect.
