QB Matt Leinart Might Not Be With Cardinals Past 2010?

The Cardinals can afford to keep Matt Leinart, who is under contract through 2010. His scheduled salary for next year, $2.485 million, is manageable, but Leinart is due to make at least $7.36 million in 2011. That doesn’t include escalators or a $5.5 million bonus due if he’s on the roster that year. So, the Cardinals face a big decision, if not in 2010, then in 2011. “At some point, we will have to think about, not only him, but the depth at that position and what life will be like after Kurt Warner,â€￾ Graves said. “I still believe that once he (Leinart) gets the opportunity to play and gets the majority of the snaps, we’ll begin to see a lot of the promise we saw before.â€￾

Probably not. The Cards' FO is saying some nice things, but the reality is Leinert really isn't the NFL player some thought (including me) he would be.

i'm sure warner plays out his contract with one year left. the cardinals should really draft a quarterback high this offseason to make some competition after 2010.
