Rex Ryan says it's ''a possibility'' do-it-all backup quarterback Tim Tebow could see time at running back for the New York Jets on Sunday against the New England Patriots. The Jets are a bit short-handed at the position with backups Joe McKnight (sprained left ankle) and Bilal Powell (separated right shoulder) likely out for the game. That leaves only starter Shonn Greene and rookie Jonathan Grimes, who has yet to play, as the team's only running backs. Lex Hilliard is the remaining fullback after the Jets waived John Conner on Wednesday. Tebow's role has been limited in his first season with the Jets, but he has carried the ball 18 times for 64 yards. Ryan says Tebow's ''got power,'' and as a quarterback, he ''knows all the positions.'' Source: Associated Press
they're that desperate? yes, tebow is a somewhat effective runner when he is at QB and is a threat to pass and when the field opens up a bit he can sneak through for a few yards. however, it's much different and much more difficult to run from the fullback or H back position. if they need him to run some plays to take a few carries off of Greene then they just need to line him up at QB and have some designed run plays mixed in with a couple of passes to keep the defense off balance.
What are their options for having Sanchez and Teblow on the field for the same play? Can they effectively use them as two QBs at the same time? That would throw the other side off.
yep, putting 2 qb's on the field doesn't make any sense. it basically just takes you a man down and then you're playing 10 vs. 11
