Wednesday’s preliminary ruling on the Tom Brady v. NFL antitrust lawsuit will go a long way to determining the future of the Miami Dolphins roster. The league will likely operate under the same rules as the 2010 season next year if judge Susan Nelson grants players an injunction blocking the owner-imposed lockout. As such, Tyler Thigpen is likely to be back on the Dolphins roster next year as the team placed a second-round tender on him. It is unlikely another franchise will be willing to match that according to Ben Volin at the Palm Beach Post, thus, he may have little choice other than to stay in Miami even if he won’t have a realistic shot at starting. If the lockout stands and the four- and five-year players become unrestricted free agents once a new CBA is reached Thigpen’s chances of remaining on the Dolphins roster are equally thin.
