Raheem Morris Says Buccaneers Are Best Team In The NFC

Discussion in 'Tampa Bay Buccaneers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Oct 24, 2010.

  1. Raheem Morris was as pumped as ever after the Bucs secured their last-minute victory here at Raymond James Stadium today. And he wasn't shy about making a few bold statements about his young team, which is fast becoming one of the surprise stories of this NFL season. "I like where we are," Morris said. "We're 4-2. We're the best team in the NFC. Yeah, I said it. We're excited." It's not clear whether Morris was making reference to the Bucs having the best record in the NFC or whether he was suggesting they truly are superior to the rest of the conference. Either way, Morris is feeling confident about his team, and rightfully so after they managed to win a game that seemed out of their reach for most of this mistake-filled day. "I told you we're going to be young and exciting," Morris said. "That's what we got today. We got two teams on the rise. We easily went out there and put together one of the worst first halves of my tenure. If you want to add the Saints game, you could say six quarters. But this team plays 60 minutes. There's no doubt about that. They have no give-up in them. They have nothing but fight." Regarding the play of running back LeGarrette Blount, Morris wouldn't commit to anything in terms of a lineup change with Cadillac Williams, but with Blount getting a team-high 11 carries for 72 yards, it's clear the Bucs believe he can help them. Blount would have had a 100-yard-plus day were it not for a 46-yard run that was called back for an illegal block, one of numerous penalties on the offense today. "All of those things will be (decided) in time," Morris said. "It's a team football game. LeGarrette Blount was able to get us rushing yards today. Cadillac Williams was able to make some big-time catches today and actually scored the game-winning touchdown. Everybody has a role for us right now. We're not going to play the game of (throwing) daggers and throwing stones and (worrying about) who's going to run out of the tunnel. I think that's the most important thing for us." "You can't say enough about the young man. I wish they didn't take away that big run from him. He runs hard, he runs resilient, he runs tough. He's kind of a symbol of our football team."

Best in the NFC? How about starting with best in the division? Behind the Falcons and took a nice beating from the Saints last week.

I see... I suppose pulling one out against the Rams makes you the best. I think he should wait until they beat a decent team before proclaiming this.

In the guy's defense, the Rams aren't complete jokes this year!

That said, there is no way the Bucs are even top 5 in the NFC. Let me know when they beat the Falcons and we'll talk about being one of the elites.

We actually broke the trend following the 2007 debacle. We clawed back in 08 to come in 2nd, and it was shut down again in 09.

We always break the positive trends. Remember when the NFC South division winner went to the Super Bowl? 02 Bucs, 03 Panthers? Guess who won in 04? Guess where we didn't go.

All that said, Bucs are dangerous, they can really shock some teams in the league if they leave them in it. Josh Freeman is proving to be worth every bit of that 1st round money, the guy is solid.

Sorry BBB, Bucs are nowhere near top 5 in the NFC. They can't stop anyone running on them.....

They just beat the Rams on a last minute TD.....

That rates probably closer to 8 - 12 area than top 5...

He was in the heat of the moment and blurted out something he shouldnt of, the player in the locker room dont even believe that one. They are headed in the right direction but they cant stop the run and they cant run the ball, no way in hell they are the best team in the nfc.

all right coach. let's calm down a little bit........ geez, the guy is like a little kid sometimes ......

  20. They have favorable matchups in three of the next four games.....at Arizona.....Carolina on November 14th (whom they already beaten), then San Francisco on November 21st. They do have Atlanta on November 7th and that is certainly no picnic.

If they can come out of that stretch 3-1......they'll be 7-3 and will most certainly be in the Top 5 in the conference.

I don't even like Tampa for the record......but I'm not ignorant either. Don't be quick to knock the Rams......they are not as bad as last year. Team's find ways to win.
