Oakland coach Hue Jackson said in a Sirius Radio interview that defensive lineman Richard Seymour was the best draft pick of the 2011 draft. Oakland acquired Seymour from New England in Sept. 2009 in a deal that sent the Patriots Oakland's top pick in 2011. It turned out to be the No. 17 pick, which New England used on Colorado tackle Nate Solder. Seymour is a good player and he has been solid for Oakland, as he gave the defense a much-needed dose of toughness, but in fairness to the rest of the 2011 first-round picks, Seymour will turn 32 during the season and he missed three games last year. If Jackson is talking for the long haul – and that’s the entire point of taking a player in the first round -- then Seymour may not be the best player in this class heading toward the future.
