Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer, acquired Tuesday from the Bengals, is expected to start Sunday vs. the Chiefs, according to a national media outlet. It will mark the second straight week that a new player has stepped into the starting lineup. Last week linebacker Aaron Curry arrived via trade from Seattle and was installed as Oakland's starting weakside linebacker. The Raiders acquired Palmer for a first-round draft pick in next April's draft, as well as a future conditional pick. Palmer's career record as a starting quarterback is 46-51, bottoming out with last year's 4-12 mark that hastened his request for a trade, despite his signing a six-year contract extension with the Bengals that took his initial deal through 2014 and made him, at the time, the highest paid player in the NFL on Dec. 29, 2005. I'm a little surprised to hear he is starting, if this source is correct. I imagine this game will garnish the most viewers this weekend. Chief/Raiders is always exciting add in the biggest QB trade of the year and BOOM! that's just great TV.
Palmer quickly took over the first-team reps at practice after Kyle Boller initially took the snaps........
Don't be a toolshed.. Any fan of the Raiders or Chiefs this is always a heated rival. I am gonna enjoy this game. I really hope Palmer does well. I can't stand USC but for some reason I have always liked Palmer. Seems like a good dude. Besides, anyone who can put up with Ochostinco for so long is "ok" in my book. lol
:icon_rolleyes: Just because the two teams have been bad over the last decade doesn't mean that there haven't been some pretty entertaining games. Stop being ignorant.
Jesus Christ take the thong out of your asses. It was a freaking joke. How vanilla is the playbook gonna be this week?
*lisp* Don't be so sensitive. *lisp* With the Raiders running game I am sure they can put in a dozen or so pass plays and keep it simple for Carson. Should make for an entertaining game.
It may not be all that vanilla for Palmer if he indeed starts. He knows the offense already. Hell just need sometime to shake off the rust.
Carson Palmer will throw 4 Picks and be booed out of the stadium. But anyways, should be interesting to see if Cincy was the problem and not Carson. My bet is, it was Palmer.
I think him wanting out of that place took it out of him. That said, any player that would tank it to leave is a sorry pos. Maybe i am old school, in fact I am, but I believe you should play your butt off regardless. And I am so old that I remember when Raiders/Chiefs was the game of the week. Two teams that flat out don't like each other. Or at least back then. Like the Falcons and us. Most folks would say both teams sucked back then but these two teams hate each other and usually those two games were the best games on the schedule. Records mean nothing when it is a rivalry game. And the coach said that he is putting in plays that Carson knows and is making the receivers learn Carson's plays. I really think the Raiders struck gold. Black and Silver is making some noise and they aren't going away anytime soon.
I gotta lean more towards agreeing with BBB. Palmer should obviously be rusty, but it might not be as rusty as you'd think. He's VERY familiar with the offense and has been throwing on a daily basis. It's not gonna be like David Garrard or Marc Bulger coming in...someone who has to learn the offense in a week. Palmer knows most of it already. He's also supposedly not "injured" anymore...
I really don't think he will My prediction, down 3 with 4 minutes left Palmer will march the Raiders from the 20 yard line all the way to midfield taking 2 minutes off the clock, than he will throw two incomplete passes before completing one to a Chief defender who will return it for a Touchdown, Chiefs win by 10 I think Palmers final numbers will be about 230 yards, 1 TD 3 INTs 2 Pick Sixes
I don't think that will happen. I think he was just so burned out playing there that he mentally gave up. Will he come in a throw for 350 yards and 5 tds with no turnovers? Doubt that very seriously. But I think 230 yards 2 tds will get the job done. Give him this week and the bye week and see what happens after that.
