Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell's Starting Job His To Lose?

Discussion in 'Oakland Raiders' started by BigBlueBruiser, Apr 9, 2010.

  1. Raiders sources say that the Eagles contacted the Raiders about a Donovan McNabb trade and that is how discussions were generated, and the Raiders thought they had McNabb before he slipped through to Washington. Now the Raiders appear settled on at least one more season of JaMarcus Russell at quarterback, one more year with more emphasis on a sink-or-swim, get-it-done-or-bite-the-bullet approach with Russell. Russell is considered in Oakland the primary issue, a talented quarterback who for whatever reasons has not connected with his coaches and teammates and has shut it down when troubled. A Raiders executive, requesting anonymity, said: "There has been such a lack of confidence in this team as a whole. The intangibles need to be rebuilt. It's awful. The great teams go out there and know they will win; the good teams think they can, the average teams hope they can and the bottom ones hope they don't lose too badly. I don't think it's bottom now for us. But we have to develop an attitude, a belief as a team and organization of winning thinking and preparation. That has to come from JaMarcus and from his position. It's his job to lose. He is aware of that.''

    1. The Oakland Raiders are currently doing Horrible in Ticket sales.. LiTERALLY (Not due to the Economy/RAiDER NATiON is sick & tired of JaWalrus)
    2. Al Davis (Personally) Met with Tim Tebow
    3. Raider scouts were at Jimmy Clausen's Pro Day

If you ask me, This report is BLOWN SMOKE! ;) Al Davis knows that he can't risk another year with JaMarcus Russell or he'll lose his FanBase this season. Cut JaMarcus Russell, Select a New Franchise Quaterback - and people will renew their Season tickets. Simple as that -

The starting job is Russell's to lose huh? Him losing that job shouldn't be that hard.

Put down the crack pipe dude...Raiders have been doing horrible as you put it since they've been back in Oaktown and ticket sales won't be better with a new QB, they will start moving up with the death of Al Davis and the team winning. And it's not THAT simple. The fan base isn't just sick and tired of JaMarcus they are sick and tired of the hecked up choices that Davis makes in the draft and the moves he makes with his coaches.

Please. Just stop. Garcia is not an option for this team. He's not a starting option for ANY team right now. He's old, his arm is shot, he's not as mobile as he used to be, just give it up. I fail to understand your obsession with Garcia and Vick, unless you are making all your evaluations based on Madden 2002 gameplay. Hell, that's not so farfetched really. It would certainly explain a lot.

I went to every Home game last season (talked to ALOT of Raider fans about the empty seats) and everyone blamed JaMarcus Russell. We have a damn good team! Obviously, the Raiders have had seven straight losing seasons.. so of course people aren't going to support Oakland when they're losing. (I'll be at the games) but some people aren't going to waste their Hard earned money to see JaWalrus Russell play... That's just the honest to God Truth.

If you don't think that a Quaterback like Tim Tebow wouldn't sell Tickets then you "Need to put down the Crack Pipe" because he will.
    A) He's a Republican
    B) He has Millions of fans
    C) Most of all, he's a Winner

    Do the Math..

Jason, get real kid....Oakland has always had problems selling out their stadium, and No Tebow would sell more tickets. He's a republican?? so what??? Unless you did the math you have no idea how many fans Tebow has and I doubt millions of his so called fans live near Oakland.

    Sweets,
He's a Republican! Do you NOT watch CNN? Republicans would flock to Oakland to see Tim Tebow play. Oakland would get more T.V. time, Tickets would sell, and most of all - The Raiders will WiN games.

At the end of the Day Al's going to draft whoever he wants and if he keeps his word he'll draft Tim Tebow.

    Peace
