In the past, the Raiders have typically stuck cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to one side, rather than having him follow a star receiver all over the field the way Darrelle Revis does for the Jets but now Oakland seems to be bending that way. Last Sunday, Asomugha followed Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald everywhere, and it’s safe to say it worked: The Cardinals’ all-world receiver was held to two catches for 26 yards. What’s interesting is that with Houston and Andre Johnson on the schedule today, Raiders defensive coordinator John Marshall doesn’t plan on repeating the practice. Wary of Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones, Marshall said, “When you play a team like this, you can do whatever you want to that guy [Johnson], but you’d better be taking care of those other guys.’’ So Asomugha will go back to playing a side for this one, and cover whomever the Texans put in front of him. It’s an interesting variance, since Oakland is a heavy man-to-man team.
