As firs reported earlier today by National Football Post, the Oakland Raiders have signed seventh-round rookie safety Stevie Brown to their practice squad. Raiders owner Al Davis overruled the coaching staff and had them cut Brown on Saturday when they wanted former second-round pick Mike Mitchell to be cut, according to a league source. Naturally, Davis got his way. Brown was the subject of a lot of interest today before agreeing to re-sign with Oakland. The Raiders also signed the following players to the practice squad: defensive tackle Kellen Heard, linebacker Slade Norris, cornerback Joe Porter, wide receiver Shaun Bodiford, offensive lineman Alex Parsons, and fullback Manase Tonga. Was hoping Brown would make the final roster, but at least he's still in the organization for another run next year.
Wait. WHAT???? Tom Cable talked highly of Mike Mitchell after drafting him and was going to cut him loose for Stevie Brown? LOL
