Raiders head coach Dennis Allen the team will not get rid of their zone-blocking scheme due to the running game, most notably Darren McFadden‘s, struggles so far this season, per Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle. “You can’t throw everything out and just start over in the middle of the year,†Allen said, via Tafur. “There have been a few tweaks, a few emphasis points but nothing like a drastic change other than we’ve got to execute better.†The Raiders rank last in the NFL with 60.8 yards per game so far this season. McFadden has averaged 3.5 yards per carry, which is more than a yard less than his career average of of 4.6. Raiders running backs coach Kelly Skipper says McFadden is making all the right reads, but his numbers this season seem to suggest otherwise. McFadden and the Raiders will need to figure out a way to run the ball and control time of possession on Sunday as they will face the Falcons, a team that can put points on the board in a hurry. um, the blocking scheme is a problem but the play calling may be the bigger issue. greg knapp has been way too pass heavy this season and the run game doesn't seem to be a focus, so obviously they aren't going to be very good at it.
