The Oakland Raiders plan to sign free agent kicker Dave Rayner, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports. Signing Rayner was necessary as Sebastian Janikowski has a hamstring injury that will likely sideline him for a couple of weeks. During his journeyman career, Rayner has connected on 55-of-75 field goal attempts in 51 games with the Indianapolis Colts (2005), Green Bay Packers (2006), Kansas City Chiefs (2007), San Diego Chargers (2007), Cincinnati Bengals (2008) and Detroit Lions (2010). Rayner was one of several kickers to tryout for the Raiders on Friday, the second time this season he's competed to replace an established kicker in the AFC West. Rayner worked out for the Chargers on September 13, two days after they lost Nate Kaeding to a knee injury.
