Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams QB Marc Bulger could be a salary-cap casualty next offseason if he has a poor 2009 campaign. Counting players who finished last season on IR, the Rams have subsequently released, traded or declined to re-sign 15 players who were age 30 or older. Bulger could be caught up in a youth movement if he doesn't show he can be the long-term answer under center this year.

Thats all well and fine if thats what they wanna do but they dont have anybody on the roster at this point who can replace him

Is it really much of a Casuality.. i mean the guy has under performed for years now and the #1 WR out there is Avery. If there was ever time to bomb a season it would be this one with the QBs coming out next year.

i wouldn't have been shocked if he had been a cap casualty THIS off-season. He got a HUGE contract and has been downright crappy the last couple of seasons.

He's been awful since 2005 (Apart from the fluke 2006 season in which he got given his stupidly expensive contract). Really we should have just dumped him before the draft and just ride out the season with Boller because we aren't going anywhere no matter whose under center.

First all Hello, this will be my first post here. Secondly, and back to the topic, I dont think anyone here in St. Louis will have any love lost when Bulger goes. He had his moments here, good and bad, and his time to go has come, and as some would say, past. I might get some dirty replies, but I wanted to draft Quinn when we had the chance before the 2006 season. Bulger was in his last year of his contract, and Quinn would of been able to sit a year then start in 2007. Dont get me wrong I like Carriker, but we haven't seen enough out of him yet for me to say he was worth the pick. Anyways, Come 2010 Bulger will be gone and hopefully the Rams pick up a quality QB and a few other pieces. If they do this maybe they are playoff bound in 2010.

welcome bergy. and, yes, i think we're all on the same page with this one. the contract they gave to bulger was premature and they're paying for it now. this is definitely his last season to try and turn things around and it will be very difficult with his poor receiving corps.
