WWE superstar Randy Orton has been 86'd from the lead role in the upcoming movie "Marine: Homefront" ... amidst outrage from several Devil Dogs who claim Randy deserted them during his brief stint in the USMC. A rep for WWE tells us, "WWE demonstrated poor judgment in signing Randy Orton for the 3rd installment of the film." The rep adds, "Despite Randy's popularity, the fact that he was dishonorably discharged from the USMC made it inappropriate for him to be cast in this film." The move will surely satisfy Cpl. Mike Vinn ... one of Randy's former unit members who was FURIOUS the wrestler was ever up for the role in the first place ... since Orton received a bad conduct discharge in 1999 after going AWOL on two separate occasions and disobeying an order from a commanding officer. Orton was court-martialed and served 38 days in a military prison. TMZ.com
its a movie. they sign stars to movies. Nice to see they switched course here but I dont think it was that necessary.
Not necessary? The guy was dishonorably discharged. How in their right mind would having him star in a movie about Marines work?
Because its hollywood? So who gives a damn who the star is? As long as they can bring in money a business is a business
And you expect them to make money on something people will be dragging through the mud? Good thing you aren't a business owner.
I think a large amount of people would go watch a movie with Orton in it, and just because some Marines are pissed off by it doesn't mean a thing. In fact if anything it would get you more publicity and people would go watch it BECAUSE its a controversy. By the way, I am in business. I don't think its good on an ethics standpoint. But who cares? It's all about money.
Not a lot of us really watch it anyways, and I wouldnt have been offended by it anyways. I still keep in contact with people that gay'd theyre way out. It's just not for some people. At least he gave it the old college try Sent by HTC Vivid using Tapatalk
Thats pretty much how I feel, it'd be like saying I shouldn't be in a movie about the military cause I got discharged. Crap happens. At least he tried. Meh whatever, its going to be just as successful with or without him. Its nice they took him out with respect to the marines. But I wouldn't have been pissed if he was in it, and it wouldn't have shocked me if the movie was just as or even more successful with him.
I don't remember the guys name but there was some dude that had a show on the military channel that was in my unit after I got out. It was a big issue with my boots because he pretty much begged his way out of the infantry as soon as he got to the unit and now he was acting like an unoffical spokesperson. That's a little bit different Sent by HTC Vivid using Tapatalk
Some take it to heart some don't. I don't have problem with it because its such a cheesy movie, but if it was say Jarhead, something that's actually representive that would be different Sent by HTC Vivid using Tapatalk
I was in the Army, Marines hate me just for that lol. I think it just depends on the person some of my military friends don't care some do.
I'm sure JTG or Kofi Kingston will be much better options as that's who's rumored to replace him. The BEST thing the WWE can do is have Cena suffer a catastrophic injury at the hands of Lesnar and have him be back in the role. Honestly, heck them all. It's going to gross like 46$ bucks and be REALLY freaking dumb. If Cena was in the role at least douchebag fan boys would go see it to boo him like the douches they are.
