1 ) AFC East Captain’s formula mean: +10.35 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Difficult -- AFCN and NFCN Inter-division record: 24-14 Easily the best division in football this year. 3 teams are likely to finish .500 or better and the Bills haven’t exactly been a lay down. They are dominating 2 of the better divisions in football this year and may have the 2 best teams in the AFC. 2) NFC South Captain’s formula mean: +2.31 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Easy -- AFCN and NFCW Inter-division record: 23-15 It was difficult choosing between the NFCS and NFCE for #2 because the NFCS has such an easy strength of schedule. So, I went with the popular opinions comparing apples to apples division placements where most people would rank the Falcons over Eagles, Saints over Giants, and Bucs over Cowboys or Redskins in 3rd place, giving the NFCS the advantage. Whether or not these popular opinions are fact is debateable but it is what most people believe so the NFCS is #2. 3) NFC East Captain’s formula mean: +6.71 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Average -- AFCS and NFCN Inter-division record: 19-17 Everyone keeps saying the NFCE is having a down year but maybe they are just used to the NFCE being the best division in football. They’re still pretty damn good and if the Cowboys had not imploded, they could be giving the AFCE a run for their money. 4) AFC North Captain’s formula mean: +3.59 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Difficult -- AFCE and NFCS Inter-division record: 19-19 This is still a very solid division, although the Bengals struggles have brought it down a bit. They have actually faired pretty well against 2 of the best divisions in football and it appears likely they will once again have 2 playoff entries. 5) NFC North Captain’s formula mean: +2.58 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Difficult -- AFCE and NFCE Inter-division record: 17-19 Fortunately for this division, the Bears replaced the Vikings as the solidly #1 team or they would be even lower but this division was supposed to be better than this in 2010. The Packers and Vikings were 2 NFC favorites and both have disappointed. 6) AFC West Captain’s formula mean: -0.87 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Easy -- AFCS and NFCW Inter-division record: 17-19 This division may still be towards the bottom of this list, as they have been for several years now, but they are improved in 2010. The Chargers are still good and the Chiefs and Raiders appear to be heading in the right direction. The Broncos are obviously dragging the division down or they could even be better than #6. 7) AFC South Captain’s formula mean: -4.35 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Average -- AFCW and NFCE Inter-division record: 17-19 This has been a disappointing year for every organization in the AFCS except for the Jaguars. The Colts are not winning at their typical pace. The Texans did not take the next step they were expecting to take. And the Titans seem to be regressing. This division hasn’t been this low for quite a while. 8) NFC West Captain’s formula mean: -15.56 Primary Inter-division opponents (Strength of Schedule): Average -- AFCW and NFCS Inter-division record: 12-26 We all know the NFC West is never very good, but they are absolutely atrocious this year. It’s very possible at this point that none of the teams will even finish at .500. They are so bad that with only 2 games left, the 5-9 49ers are still very alive for the division title.
well, like I said, you and I may not agree that the falcons are better than the eagles but the general consensus is that the falcons are better. in fact, many people believe the falcons are the best team in the nfl right now. very few believe the eagles are.
lol, actually no, the "vast" majority feel the patriots are the best and that goes from the fan on the street to every bookie in the world including the vegas line.
um, ok, and then pretty much the rest of the general consensus that don't have the pats #1 have the falcons #1 ................... not sure i've seen any non-philly fans put the eagles #1 but i HAVE seen falcons #1, which was my point .......... if you have a point to make, go ahead and make it ............ are you saying that you think the eagles are better than the falcons or that the nfce is better than the nfcs (or both) .............? if so, make your case .........
What part of nuff said did you not understand? I made my point and I made it well. I will simply wait for the Eagles to back my point up in the playoffs if they get another crack at Atlanta.
i made my point that you are wrong by making the statement - "in fact, many people believe the falcons are the best team in the nfl right now" this was incorrect and now, surprise surprise, you change your statement and claim it was your point originally, which it clearly wasn't. but keep trying to back track. it's what i love about you. :icon_cheesygrin:
first off, i was responding to smeagle's comment but thank you for your post. secondly, i'm understanding now what's going on ....... at first, i wasn't sure what was going on but then i remembered this usually happens at some point during the year ...... I'll just let you guys enjoy your time at the top and do your philly thing ................. didn't mean to get in the way ......... my bad.

i am an eagles fan but i wouldn't put them above the falcons. i damn well wouldnt put the falcons above the patriots either.
Since ranking lists like this mean less then my funyun scented sack sweat I absolutely would put the Eagles above the Falcons AND the Patriots. We beat the Falcons and the Browns beat the Pats which is proof incontrovertible to me that the Eagles are better then both teams and until they play one another and prove other wise no body can prove me wrong. :icon_cheesygrin:
Awesome. Falcons are overrated IMO. Yes. 12-3 right now. Sure, they won 7 games in a row before New Orleans snapped that. And I'm not saying the Falcons are not a good football team. Their record proves my opinion wrong. But, a rare 29-yard FG Miss from Hartley in Week 3 is all the separates the Saints from the NFC South lead right now. That said, it is what it is. We can't live on "what ifs". We have WHAT IS. Falcons are 12-3. Eagles are 10-4. I think Eagles are better than the Falcons. We will see what happens in January, though. That's all that really matters.
