The reigning Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens began trimming their roster on Friday, releasing veteran running back Anthony Allen and quarterback Caleb Hanie. The team waived 11 players in all, and placed rookie linebacker D.J. Bryant on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury in Thursday night's preseason finale in St. Louis. Baltimore also released cornerback Marc Anthony, a seventh-round pick in the 2013 draft, linebackers Nigel Carr and Brandon Copeland, running back Delone Carter, offensive tackles Jordan Devey and Rogers Gaines, tight end Alex Silvestro, center Reggie Stephens and quarterback Dayne Crist, a former starter at the college level for both Notre Dame and Kansas. Allen was a key special teams performer on the Ravens' Super Bowl team a year ago but he fumbled on the goal line against the Rams. Meanwhile, Hanie's exit likely signals Baltimore will carry just Joe Flacco and Tyrod Taylor at quarterback for the third straight season. Source: Sports Network
