Starting left tackle Jared Gaither, a restricted free agent, represents the Ravens' best shot at getting an additional pick in the first or second round. No team official has said the Ravens would give up Gaither for a high pick, but the team seemingly announced it would listen to offers by giving Gaither a first-round tender as a restricted free agent instead of the high one (which would require teams to give up picks in the first and third rounds). Four teams who could show interest are the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts but the Ravens still have the first right of refusal and can keep Gaither by matching any offer. And just who would play left tackle? Oher? Moving who to the right side? Terry? Who we didn't even tender? Willie? Who could be coming out of retirement but is 35? No. Don't mess with a good offensive line.
Gaither is one of the premier young (age = 24?) left tackles in the NFL. A mid first round pick is well worth the trade. I'd be happy with either Gaither or Marshall for the #14 overall pick.
You'd be giving up the number 6, though. Number 6 wouldn't be bad for Gaither, but a little high for Marshall. ------------- Err, wasn't paying attention. If they signed him an offer, it would be the number 6 pick. There is a possibility of them trading the number 14, but highly unlikely. I'm sure the only chance he's not a Raven is someone gives him an offer the Ravens wont match.
i seriously doubt this will happen. we'd just use the pick to draft his replacement; what's the point?
There is no point. Not in my mind. But if the Ravens want to move him I'd give up the #14 pick for him because he is only one or two years older than the rookies and has already proven he can handle playing LT at the NFL level. I'm just sticking to the hypothetical trade here!
Now that I think about it, The Ravens are probably interested in Nnamdi Asomugha. Word out of Oakland is that Al Davis wants Two First Rounders/Two Second Rounders... so who knows? :bolt:
I agree don't mess with a god **mn good offensive line. I don't understand why you would want to trade him.
Want to or not, they won't be able to do anything about it if a team signs him to an offer that they are unwilling or unable (poison pill) to match.
Thank You! Oher is a better player in every since. I'll take a first round pick if they have a contingency plan at RT if not then keep him, but if someone offers crazy money then we will take the pick and move on.
gaither wont go to the right and make RT money and playing Oher on the right is a waste imo. a right tackle is so much easier to find than a left tackle and gaither is no elite left tackle, hes just got the ego of one since hes been there for a while now. hes solid and steady, but oher will borderline on great
