Four veteran wide receivers - Jerry Porter, Kelley Washington, D.J. Hackett and Tab Perry - will try out for the Ravens at this weekend's minicamp, a team official told The Baltimore Sun on Wednesday. Depending on the workouts, the Ravens could sign all or none of the receivers, the official said. The team is expected to make a decision Monday. Source: The Baltimore Sun
Lord knows I can't question Ozzie Newsome's tactics but as a fan it would be assuring to see Baltimoe go out and get us a solution for this issue, be it through the draft or free agency, rather than trying to patch it year to year with guys who've played their best days somewhere else.
You have to put things in perspective. First of all the value wasn't there at any point in the draft to take a WR. There were guys that we targeted that just got picked before we got a shot. Also the price for Anquan Boldin is too steap to me, and not so much the cost to trade for him but trying to negotiate a contract. One of these guys will be a 4th receiver for us. Having Demetrius Williams back healthy is like having a draft pick. People shouldn't panic, they will address the WR position next offseason when we will have less needs. Also having Oher means we dont have to leave Heap in to block as much which helps the passing game even more
D.J. Hackett was pretty good with Seattle, but he hasn't found a home anywhere else... I'd like to see him workout for the Bears if only to see what we have compared to what's available.
