Marc Topkin from the Tampa Bay Times is reporting that during batting practice this morning before today’s Rays/Tigers game that a member of the bullpen was struck in the head by a baseball. Manager Joe Maddon said that the person struck was Rays starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson. Hellickson was said to not be bleeding and did not lose consciousness, but was taken to a local area hospital. Maddon did say that Hellickson was more stunned than anything, and headed to the hospital as a precaution. Source:620WDAE.com
