    "For the most part, offseason agendas are about acquisition, that is, adding players to an existing roster to fill needs and shore up weaknesses. Occasionally, as the Red Sox are finding, subtraction is a goal, too. And so, while they make their interest known to free agents and exchange ideas about procuring players through trades, the Sox are also actively shopping two of their veteran players with varying degrees of success.
