An impassioned Bobby Valentine on Wednesday called his first season as manager of the Boston Red Sox "miserable" and lashed out when asked if he had "checked out" on the season."What an embarrassing thing to say," Valentine said during his weekly interview on Boston sports radio station WEEI when asked by host Glenn Ordway whether he had "checked out.""If I were there right now, I'd punch you right in the mouth. Ha, ha. How's that sound? Sound like I checked out? What an embarrassing thing."Valentine also grew upset when informed during the interview that reporters noted he showed up at around 4 p.m. for a 7:10 p.m. PST game Friday against the Athletics in Oakland."Why would somebody even, that's stuff that a comic strip person would write," Valentine said. "If someone's here, watching me go out at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, working with the young players, bringing in the right relief pitchers to get a win, putting on a hit and run when it's necessary, talking to the guys after the game in the food room. How could someone in real life say that?" Source: ESPN
You know why this season's been so "miserable," Bobby? Because you suck as a manager. The game has passed this dude by, and he just refuses to acknowledge it. It's unfortunate really, but some good has to come of this. Right? Maybe the "Curse of Bobby V" won't last 86 years.
This is the truth Bobby V isn't to blame. I mean he does suck as a manager but this team wasn't winning no matter who was at the helm.
Bobby V is an AWESOME manager. The players in that city are pieces of crap. He was amazing with the Mets in the 90's and I'd love to have him coaching in a SECOND. The man has fire, knows how to manage a team and understands the game. It's not his issue that the players he has are god awful. There's a reason that Theo left town.
Pre Bobby V 1995 - 69-75 1996 - 71-91 With Bobby V 1997 - 88-74 1998 - 88 -74 1999 - 97-66 2000 - 94-68 His last 2 years were throw aways but he kept the team super competitive during the end of the 90's. Twice almost getting 100 wins. I'd say as the manager of the Mets he did a pretty awesome job.
bro, i think you're being a bit of a homer but that's ok i get it and maybe i'm being a bit of a hater but only two playoff appereances with damn good rosters during his time with the mets ? there's a reason he was on the shelf for so long IMO and it's because he's overrated and a rodwad to boot. that said this situation is not his fault.
