Safety Brandon Meriweather played the first half of the Washington Redskins’ preseason finale Thursday night in Tampa. He said afterward he’s hopeful he convinced the team’s coaches that he’s ready to play in the regular season opener. “I don’t know,†Meriweather said. “That’s something you have to ask Coach. I hope so. The worst thing that could happen to me right now would be the coaches telling me I have to sit out another week because I didn’t look ready.†Meriweather’s progress came in starts and stops throughout training camp and the preseason as he returns from last season’s knee injury. “It felt good to run around, to actually hit somebody besides my own teammates,†Meriweather said. “But it felt good just to be out there.†Meriweather acknowledged he had a quiet performance Thursday. “It could be better,†he said. “It could be a lot better. I didn’t have the energy that I usually carry around, probably because I didn’t make no plays. I didn’t get a chance to get too much action. But it was nice to be out there.†Source: Washington Post
